CISA Flags Critical Windows IKE Flaw CVE-2026-33824 for Urgent Exploitation Patch
The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has added a critical Microsoft Windows vulnerability to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog, warning organizations about the potential for unauthenticated remote code execution on affected systems.
Tracked as CVE-2026-33824, the vulnerability affects the Microsoft Internet Key Exchange (IKE) Service Extensions component and was added to CISA’s catalog on August 18, 2026.
Microsoft describes the issue as a double-free vulnerability that could allow attackers to corrupt memory and potentially execute malicious code remotely.

The vulnerability is classified as CWE-415, a memory-management weakness that occurs when software attempts to release the same memory allocation more than once.
Double-free vulnerabilities can result in memory corruption and may allow attackers to manipulate application behavior.
